Yields: 1 serving
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
1 double shot of espresso (about 2 oz)
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of cinnamon (for garnish, optional)
Whipped cream (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Tres Leches Cream: In a small saucepan over low heat, whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Heat gently, stirring constantly, until the mixture is warm and well combined. Do not let it boil.
Brew the Espresso: While the Tres Leches cream is warming, brew a double shot of espresso.
Combine and Serve: Pour the warm Tres Leches cream into a mug. Add the freshly brewed espresso and stir gently to combine.
Garnish and Enjoy: Top with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Tips & Variations:
Iced Version: For an iced latte, follow the same steps but chill the Tres Leches cream and espresso before combining. Pour over ice in a glass.
Decaf: Use decaffeinated espresso or coffee for a caffeine-free version.
Coffee Substitute: Don't have an espresso machine? Use 4 ounces of strong-brewed coffee instead of a double shot of espresso.
Spice it Up: Add a pinch of nutmeg or a dash of rum extract to the Tres Leches cream for an extra layer of flavor.
Sweetness: Adjust the amount of sweetened condensed milk to control the sweetness of your latte.
